How Often Should You See A Chiropractor?

Chiropractic care aims to align the spine to its original, normal, and healthy curves. Patients can enjoy a full life without restrictions and with restored mobility if they receive the proper chiropractic treatment.

Chiropractic care is great for neck pain, back pain, headaches, sleep disturbances, and more.

But why should I visit a chiropractor?

You may be referred to the chiropractor for a variety of reasons. If you need any form of rehabilitation due to sports injury, a car accident, poor posture, and even birth defects, then you more than likely will benefit from seeing a chiropractor. Here are a few of the main reasons people visit chiropractors:

  • Back and neck pain

  • Torn or strained muscle

  • Pinched nerves (particularly if the nerve has been compressed for a prolonged time)

  • Arthritis (a condition that causes pain in the joints, and even in the spine, in your body.

  • Headaches

  • Work injury

  • Poor posture

A chiropractic adjustment can provide more than just pain relief for the conditions listed above. The majority of professionals will attempt to determine the root cause of your pain or the triggering situation.

A chiropractor will create a plan that will try to help you get rid of these problems permanently. These conditions can be prevented from returning by providing valuable information on how to maintain your body.

How frequently should I visit a chiropractor?

Some patients may need more frequent visits. Before you start any schedule or plan, it is a good idea to visit the clinic if you are new to chiropractic care.

The specialist will review your medical history and discuss your current condition. After that, he or she will perform diagnostic tests to develop a customized treatment plan.

After the chiropractor has reviewed your medical history, they will recommend how often to have adjustments done. Patients in severe pain will require more frequent adjustments.

How often is too often?

There is no limit on how many times you can visit a chiropractor, but it is important to keep the frequency within your body's limits. Listening to your body is the best way to tell when it is time to stop.

If you are not getting the results you desire, talk to your chiropractor.

What to expect from my first chiropractic visit?

  • You’ll receive a complete examination of your spine and other problematic areas.

  • Determining a treatment plan.

  • A discussion about what kind of care you need and how often to go.

Your chiropractor will typically discuss the following:

  • Chiropractic adjustments including soft tissue therapy such as massage and stretching.

  • What you should avoid for your condition.

  • Training in how to care for your body.

  • Discussions on lifestyle changes that could help you avoid future problems.

Other types of recommendations may be offered to some patients, including cold compresses, hot compresses, spinal decompression therapy, among others.

Although chiropractic care is generally safe and effective, it is important to consult your doctor before you start any treatment.
